“Mission Critical” turned “Mission Impossible” for Sunbathers in London

People going outside should face more severe punishment
Good news. The general public have now decided that sunbathing should be added to the list of essential activities. On 5th April, Brockwell Park in Lambeth was forced to close due to the amount of people visiting the park, many of which were sunbathing or in large groups. There were 3000 people in total that visited the park, even though London has the highest amount of Covid-19 cases in the UK. I believe that if you are not properly following the Government’s guidelines in regards to your and other people’s safety you should face harsher punishments because too many ignorant, tan-hungry sheep are not listening to the right advice.
The global situation is not helped by the orange, bumbling businessman that is somehow in charge of the United States of America. His refusal to call Covid-19 anything other than the “Chinese virus” is just one example of how he is not fit to lead that country in this time of crisis. He is also almost begging people to try the new, experimental drug developed to combat Covid; and his reason that people should try the drug… He has a “good feeling” about it. WHAT?! I had a good feeling before my dad cut my hair that it would look just how it normally does and that didn’t turn out too well. It’s just instead of having a wonky fringe as a concequence, people may die if the drug is not safe. He is also not imposing effective rules regarding social distancing and this is shown with the alarming number of new cases of the disease every day in the US.
But enough about trump. How have the general public reacted to Chris Whitty, England’s Chief Medical Officer and scientific expert, giving everyone advice and support about the new disease? They complained that his eyes looked like poached eggs. Grow up, please! He is trying to save our lives and people are complaining because his face looks like breakfast? All he was saying we had to do was stay at home and help the NHS, but we apparently cannot take him seriously or listen to his advice about social distancing because his eyes look funny.
Now, on a more serious note, as much as I love the whole country coming together and applauding the brave, selfless superheroes that are working hours and hours overtime to keep the country afloat; surely crowding around on Westminster Bridge and not abiding by the social distancing rules just goes against all of the incredible work that they are doing. What happened to #stayhomesavelives? And the police, instead of doing their job and dispersing the crowd just joined in, sending entirely the wrong message to everyone there that what they are doing is acceptable and within the social distancing guidelines. It is perfectly acceptable to just stay on the front door of your house or on your balcony and clap from there; instead of potentially causing a massive spike in infection rates and possibly overwhelm the NHS.
I have to say, before the pandemic, I did not like Boris Johnsen at all. However, I believe that he has dealt with the situation extremely well, especially when you compare him to what Trump is doing in America. He has done a very good job at conveying information to the public and “flattening the curve” so I have been very impressed with the way he has conducted himself during this crisis; and having had the virus himself, he will know what thousands of people are going through so knows first-hand how bad it can get and will therefore do everything in his power to control the disease.
I also have nothing but admiration for every single person that is working in the NHS to keep the country from collapsing. They are doing an incredible job and all we need to do is listen to what the government are saying and do what they tell us to do because they have all of the expert advice from the best doctors across the UK.
So, as we cannot go outside, what can we do to entertain ourselves during lockdown? We I have been going on more runs than I have ever done in my life, many people are taking this opportunity to learn a new language, many people are actually connecting with family more using the likes of Zoom to face-call each other. So, it’s not all doom and gloom, we can all use this as an opportunity to become more rounded human beings and make the most out of a bad situation.
So please, please listen to the government’s advice as they give it out, keep washing your hand and stay home, stay safe.
